"Politicians were given houses not school teachers in Kano"
A reliable source in Kano who didn't want to be named but criticized the newspaper said that the previous government of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje gave politicians houses in the name of school teachers because the condition of paying 10 percent of 100 teachers doesn't exist.
The person said that the house was worth more than $9 million and that there was no teacher who could meet the requirements. The person said that, as far as she knows, not a single teacher in Kano got this house, which was said to have been given to teachers.
According to the source, their ideas and charges only helped politicians, not school teachers as the Ganduje government claimed.
Because of this, the source asked the new governor of Kano, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, to look into the issue right away. The person said that the whole thing was a scam and that school teachers were lied to when they were told that 5,000 houses would be built and given to some of them.
In the end, our correspondent was able to try to talk to the people involved in this claim, but he or she was unable to do so until this report was written.
