President Putin has vowed to punish Russian separatists

As the leader of Wagner's mercenary gang threatens his country, Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened "necessary action" against those he claims are dividing Russia.

President Putin declared that anti-terrorist soldiers have been sent to numerous places and have been stationed in Moscow during a speech he gave this morning on live television.

His promise comes after Yevgeny Prigozhin, the commander of Wagner, threatened to engage in combat with Russian military authorities over the latter's involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.

He added that his men were en route to Moscow.
