Protection against people in Bauchi State continues to increase

In Nigeria's North-East, terrorism, particularly kidnapping for ransom, is becoming more prevalent.

This is supported by recent incidents, particularly in Bauchi State, where terrorists have started shooting at individuals in public places like markets and private residences. Sometimes it results in people losing their lives.

It may be argued that kidnappers are currently more focused on the royals and businesspeople in order to find it easier to meet their demands. However, the issue of kidnapping people for ransom is not restricted to the poor.

If memory serves, bandits kidnapped a chief in Ningi Local Government a few days ago and held him captive until a ransom of five million naira plus some basic requirements was paid.

A businessman in Jama'are local government was also abducted by the bandits, who later released him after taking twenty million naira.

The Bauchin State Police recently brought ten suspects to court for armed robbery, cattle theft, and people theft.

The most recent problem is the kidnapping of an Ibo businessman named Daniel and Alhaji Yahaya in the Ningi local government's Ganji village. The bandits are holding them captive and demand ten million naira to free them.

In a phone chat, Malam Kabir Mahmud Abdullahi, the director in charge of governance in the Ningi local government, provided more details and stated that they are taking action to address the issue, which is particularly prevalent during the rainy season.

According to Air Comodo security expert Tijjani Baba Gamawa, the bandits from the Falgure Forest and Zamfara regions invaded Bauchi state.

All attempts to reach SP Wakil, the police department's spokesperson, were unsuccessful.
