Russia arrested one of its top commanders because of Wagner's rebellion
General Sergei Surovikin, the Russian army's deputy commander fighting in Ukraine, was taken into custody by the authorities at the same time that certain army officers were relieved of their duties as a result of Wagner's forces' uprising.
General Surovikin, also known as Armageddon, was among the country's soldiers who fought in Chechnya and Syria before President Vladimir Putin honoured him. He rose to fame for his brutality.
According to allegations in the Russian media, General Surovikin was detained as a result of information that connected him to the aid of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the commander of the Wagner forces, during the military rebellion.
While some information suggests that many troops will be released in the future as a result of this uprising against Putin, the Russian Ministry of Defence has not yet commented on the legendary general's incarceration.
General Surovikin will undoubtedly be punished by the Russian government if it is proven that they have jailed him, since this will serve as a warning to the rest of their army for their poor performance during Wagner's forces' uprising.
