Saudi Arabia has set the date for Arafat

The Saudi Arabian government said on Sunday that the new moon of the month of Zul Hajj had been seen. This means that tomorrow, Monday, will be the 12th month of the Islamic year 1444.

The statement said that because the new moon was seen, Arafat will be on Tuesday, June 27, and Eid-el-Kabir, or the Great Prayer, will be on Wednesday, June 28.

As usual, at least 2 million Muslims from all over the world are expected to perform the Hajj in Saudi Arabia this year. Many people from all over the world are already there to take part in the Hajj.

His Eminence, the Sultan of Nigeria, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar the 3rd, has told Nigerian Muslims to look at the crescent moon today, Sunday, as normal.
