South Sudan has received 10,000 refugees who fled from Sudan

According to the UN Humanitarian Office Ocha, more than 10,000 persons who fled the fighting in Sudan have registered as refugees in South Sudan.

Since conflict began in April, 130,000 people have fled to South Sudan, the majority of whom are South Sudanese who are going back home.

According to Ocha, the latest influx of refugees is getting worse and more are anticipated as the war continues.

Ocha noted that individuals who arrived included old people, people with disabilities, people in need of immediate medical attention, housekeepers, and pregnant women in addition to youngsters who had been separated from their family members.

The majority of immigrants encountered violence and maltreatment upon arrival, including expropriation and looting of the nation's wealth, particularly as they were moving to South Sudan.

The two countries hosting the most refugees fleeing violence are Egypt and Chad, with 255,000 and 120,000, respectively, relative to Sudan's other neighbours.
