The Jigawa Assembly has elected a new speaker, and has done away with the APC party
Haruna Aliyu was chosen by the members of the Legislative Assembly of Jigawa to take over the role of Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
Aliyu is a member of the APC party, and Sani Isyaku from Gumel was chosen Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The election was held after a member hailing from Malam Madori's constituency named Hamza Ibrahim voiced his acceptance of Aliyu for the position of Speaker and urged his fellow members to do the same.
Mamba Muhammed Ibrahim, who was representing Birnin Kudu, gave his assent to the proposal right away.
There were no challengers for any of the positions, from the newly elected Speaker to his Deputy. Musa Abubakar, the Clerk of Parliament, promptly administered the oath of office to them.
