We will restore the dignity of the police in the eyes of Nigerians - Inspector of Police

Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the newly appointed Inspector General of the Nigerian Police, has started what he called action plans to improve the public's perception of the police.

At a ceremony held at the police headquarters in Abuja to introduce his leadership style, the Inspector General introduced the new policies.

According to a statement made by the police force's spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the inspector general's policy calls for the creation of quick intervention officers known as "Quick Intervention Squads," which will include "riot control officers who will be ready to put out the fires of violence and crime."

He added that the president will make sure that modern tools like statistics and information gathering are used to boost police productivity.

The inspector general will also see to it that a system of reward and recognition is put in place to boost the morale and motivation of the force's brave officers.
