A Thief Meets His End Theft Of A Transformer
East of Delta State, in the Ogbe, Ute-Okpu, and Ike North Local Government Areas, a man who has not been recognised died after being electrocuted while attempting to steal something from a transformer.
According to the PUNCH Metro newspaper, the man's death was reported by the locals when they discovered his body hanging from an electric pole and wires close to a local market.
Mr. John, a local resident, told our correspondent that a child, whose identity is still unknown, observed the body on the electric pole and yelled as he made his way to a neighbouring neighbourhood.
"He said the boy was on his way to the village and told us that he saw a dead body hanging on an electric pole," John added. We have remained indoors since the morning due to the rain, so we are currently sitting in our beds instead of going outside.
The body of the young man who was carrying the electronic item fell to the ground, so even when we went outside to see what had happened for ourselves, we did not find it hanging there as the child had told him.
We went without electricity for a very long time, but this time BEDC brought it back at around three in the evening; only God knows what happened. Before the police arrived to take the body, we alerted the local vigilantes, who then alerted the police.
The incident was confirmed by DSP Bright Edafe, the state police force's public relations officer.
