ADF rebels continue to kill people in DRCongo

According to local reports and reported by the French news agency AFP on Saturday, the ADF rebels have killed at least 12 people this week in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

According to John Vuleveryo, a member of civic society, Allied Democratic Forces militants attacked villages in their regions in the Ituri province on Thursday.

Locals discovered nine bodies in Elake Nord village on Friday and three more in Apesiko, but Vuleveryo cautioned that the number may rise.

The ADF is an alliance of armed organisations fighting against President Yoweri Museveni in Uganda, the majority of which are Muslim.

In 1995, the tribe relocated to eastern DRC, settling in the Rwenzori Mountains near the Ugandan border and North Kivu province.

The ADF has developed a reputation in North Kivu and the neighbouring Ituri region over the previous nine years, where they target villages that are far from the atrocity.

The gang is also charged with hatching assaults in Uganda, a neighbouring country, and killing thousands of civilians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
