The Commission (Céni) has extended by one week the deadline for submission of nomination papers in the DRC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (Céni) in the Republic of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has extended by one week the deadline for submitting candidature papers to the vice-president in the general election scheduled for December 20, 2023.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo's electoral commission should no longer be accepting candidate names as of yesterday, Saturday.

Lastly, the Electoral Commission's office will be open until Sunday, July 23, 2023. Although Denis Kadima, the head of CENI, made it clear a few days ago that there would be no more terms. Finally, the following contenders were given seven additional days.

The opposition is voicing their alarm in the wake of the murder of a lawmaker on Moise Katumbi's side when the National Electoral Commission makes its announcement.
