AGC Graduate Scholarship: Information

The CGS D program encourages and supports the best research in the broad fields of health, the natural and applied sciences, and the social and humanities, including interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research.

With this assistance, scholars are able to fully focus on their Ph.D. studies, find the top research mentors in their disciplines, and make contributions to the Canadian research ecosystem both during and after the duration of their scholarships.



The Alexander Graham Bell Graduate Scholarship's advantages

$35,000 every year for three years.


Alexander Graham Bell Graduate Scholarship Eligibility 

1. You must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a Protected Person as of the application deadline as defined in subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) in order to be eligible to apply.

2. If you were previously enrolled in a graduate program, you must have finished no more than 24 months of full-time study in your Ph.D. program by December 31 of the calendar year of application.

3. If you are enrolled in a combined program, such as an MD/Ph.D. or MA/Ph.D., you must have finished no more than 36 months of full-time study in your doctoral program by December 31 of the calendar year of application.

4. If you fit within this category, whether or not you have previously been enrolled in a master's program, you have access to the 36-month window.

If applying after transferring directly from a bachelor's to a Ph.D. program, you must: 5. have finished no more than 36 months of full-time study in your doctoral program by December 31 of the calendar year of application; 6. not have previously been enrolled in a graduate program.

At the time of application, direct-entry candidates must be enrolled in their doctoral program.


How to Apply for the Graduate Scholarship for Alexander Graham Bell 

While some eligible applicants must submit a direct online application, those who have been enrolled at a post-secondary institution within the past year must do so through their university.

Alexander Graham Bell Graduate Scholarship Program Selection Process

1. The CGS D and PGS D each have a single application and selection process. The applicants with the highest rankings will be given a CGS D, and the next group of deserving candidates will be given a PGS D.

2. Within the limits of the available awards and in accordance with the selection criteria outlined in the CGS D program description, the selection committees suggest scholarships for the applications they deem to be most deserving.

3. Should you accept a PGS D award instead of a CGS D if you are eligible to do so but choose to transfer your award to a foreign institution that is eligible, you must decline the CGS D.

 

Selection Criteria for the Graduate Program at Alexander Graham Bell

The following factors form the basis of how institutions and agencies evaluate CGS D applications:


1. Capacity for and ability in research

2. Accomplishments made both inside and outside of the classroom that are relevant.

Application Closing Date

You must submit your application before the deadline established by the institution if you are submitting through them; this date may be much earlier than the agency deadline.

All applications will be evaluated and ranked by the institution, which will then recommend applications to the agencies by 22. Applications may be submitted up until 8:00 p.m. (ET) the next business day if the deadline occurs on a weekend.
