Authorities in Abuja have confirmed the death of one person due to dysentery

The outbreak of diphtheria in several areas of the city has been reported by the Federal Capital Authority, Abuja.

Dr. Sadiq Abdulrahman, the agency's director of public health, is reportedly declaring the disease outbreak, according to Punch.

According to Abdulrahman, the illness has already claimed the life of a four-year-old kid. The illness first appeared in Lagos, Ondo, and Kano states in January, prompting the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to take action. the entire nation.

According to the director, examinations on samples taken from people who were thought to be affected in a region close to Dei-Dei verified the disease's spread.

"Two weeks ago, we received information from a part of Abuja where eight people were reportedly suspected of having the sickness, which prompted our organisation to collect samples from other individuals.

He encouraged the residents to maintain personal and environmental hygiene and requested them to report any unexpected symptoms, particularly respiratory difficulties, to the appropriate authorities.

According to Abdulrahman, their organisation works with neighbouring nations to monitor the borders in an effort to stop the disease from spreading.

Additionally, Dr. Yahaya Vatsa, the Chief Secretary of the First Level Health Commission in Abuja, has issued a warning that persons who have not received a vaccination and who reside in crowded, filthy places run the risk of developing dysentery.
