At the age of 93, Chief David Edebiri, the Esogban of Benin, passed away.
At the age of 93, Chief David Edebiri, the Esogban of Benin, passed away.
After a brief illness, Chief Esogban passed away on Thursday at a private hospital in Benin.
Often referred to as the Odiownere of Benin Kingdom, the Esogban is the next in line to become prime minister of Benin.
Esogban's most recent significant excursion was his vote in the March 18th elections for the State House of Assembly and governor.
His passing was verified by a family member at 12:20 on Wednesday.
"Chief has not been very strong, and we took him to the hospital a few days ago, and he died this afternoon," he added.
He stated that the family will adhere to the formal announcement's protocol.
"Tripod of Life: Essence of Benin Tradition and Culture" and "The Life and Times of Iyase N'Ohenmwen" are two books written by Chief Edebiri, a former journalist of Daily Times.
