JUST IN: Davido donates N237 million to orphans and less privileged in Nigeria
David Adedeji Adeleke, better known as Davido, is an international artist who has given N237 million to orphans all throughout Nigeria through his charity, The David Adeleke charity (DAF).
The charity released a statement on July 20, 2023, announcing the donation.
The foundation stated that the money would go toward giving the orphanage kids food, clothing, shelter, and educational opportunities.
It stated that the grant was made possible by the kind donations of people and businesses all around Nigeria.
In the announcement, Davido added, "I am delighted to announce that my charity, The David Adeleke charity, has donated the sum of N237 million to orphans throughout Nigeria.
This donation would not have been possible without the kind donations from Nigerian citizens and businesses. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who made this donation possible.
Davido established the DAF in 2022 with the intention of helping those in need in Nigeria. According to the statement, the organization has subsequently given millions of naira to orphanages, schools, and other charities.
According to the statement, "The David Adeleke Foundation is steadfast in its objective to elevate and help vulnerable communities throughout Nigeria. The organization "continues to make a positive impact in the lives of those in need through initiatives like this significant donation to orphanages."
The complete text of the press release titled THE DAVID ADELEKE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES N237,000,000.00 DONATION FOR THE LESS PRIVILEGED is as follows:
"I am pleased to announce the foundation I founded. The David Adeleke Foundation (DAF) has given orphanages across Nigeria the sum of N237,000,000.00 (two hundred and thirty-seven million naira). A total of 13,818 (Thirteen Thousand, Eight Hundred and Eighteen) children benefited from the foundation's successful distribution of cash to 424 (Four Hundred and Twenty-Four) orphanages under the direction of Mrs. Titi Adebayo, chair of the DAF Disbursement Committee.
"In 2022, I established the DAF out of a deep desire and passion to help others continuously and to establish a suitable framework for ongoing philanthropic operations to help the good people of Nigeria. Through this foundation, we have raised millions of Naira and provided hundreds of orphanages with desperately needed funding, greatly enhancing the lives of countless children.
"Reading the many letters and notes from everyone who got this donation has confirmed my determination to continuously help the less fortunate in whatever way. Seeing the impact and success of my past donations, especially in 2021 after my birthday, left a mark on my heart. This inspired me to create the DAF in order to successfully carry out our purpose.
"The DAF started reaching out to prominent and kind-hearted Nigerians in October 2022 to ask for their assistance in raising money for the underprivileged around the nation. The DAF was able to raise the sizeable Donation Sum of $237M Naira because of the kind donations from people and businesses across numerous industries and geographical areas.
"I would want to personally thank all the people and businesses who helped to increase the donation sum. Without your steadfast assistance and generosity, this would not have been possible. God bless you all, each and every one.
