Coup Movement: ECOWAS Will Ensure Democracy In Niger - Tinubu

In his response to the potential political crisis in the Republic of Niger, President Bola Tinubu stated his support for the nation's democratically elected administration.

As the crisis in the Republic of Niger deteriorates, Tinubu, speaking on behalf of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring democracy and good governance in the troubled nation.

Tinubu made it clear that the area would steadfastly support the duly elected administration in Niger.

For the sake of the people of Niger as well as the stability and advancement of the West African area as a whole, he emphasized the significance of maintaining democracy.

The political leaders of the nation are apparently the subject of some unpleasant events, according to information emanating from the Republic of Niger, he added.

"All individuals concerned in the problem should be aware that the ECOWAS leaders and everyone who supports democracy worldwide do not support this issue.

The ECOWAS leaders are certain that no action be taken to obstruct the legitimate administration of Niger or any other region of West Africa.

"I want to make it clear that we are keenly following the developments in Niger, and we will take all necessary steps to ensure that democracy is founded, growns, and has a solid foundation in our area.

"I'm getting in touch with the other regional leaders. Together, we'll defend the democracy we desire on the basis of the universally accepted constitutional values.

As ECOWAS group president, I want to stress that Nigeria intends to support the nation of Niger's elected government and that ECOWAS leaders will not abandon Niger in a state of gloom. For the country's constitution to be protected, we must remain steadfast.
