Dala Video: Kano Government Hires Lawyer Femi Falana To Deal With Dala Case

Femi Falana, a seasoned human rights attorney, has been hired, according to a statement from the Kano State Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC).

According to Aminiya-trust, the PCACC has retained the attorney general to represent it in the controversy surrounding the video showing the state's former governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, reportedly taking nuts.

Usman Fari, a lawyer for the PCACC, made this statement following the case hearing, which was postponed to July 25.

The adjournment follows a request for extra time from Ganduje's attorney, Basil Hemba, to gather evidence to support his client's defence against the allegations against him.

Attorney General Femi Falana was supposed to be flown to Kano this morning, however due to the flight's failure, he and his team encountered difficulties.

You may recall that a Federal High Court granted Ganduje's appeal in recent weeks to block any invitation or arrest for questioning about claims that he accepted nuts in the so-called "dollar video" recording.

The Daily Nigerian newspaper, an online publication, aired a series of recordings in 2017 purportedly showing Ganduje stealing large sums of money from some contractors and pocketing them.

Additionally, Ganduje has filed a complaint before Federal High Court Judge S.A. Amobeda in an effort to halt the Anti-Corruption Commission's investigation into 100 billion naira in Local Government money that were claimed and misplaced when he was in power.
