Drama as a man takes admin to court after being kicked off of WhatsApp group
Herbert Baitwababo, a member of the WhatsApp group, has filed a lawsuit against the administrators of the group for canceling his membership.
The WhatsApp group, dubbed "Buyanja My Roots," was founded in Uganda and is run by Allan Asinguza. According to rumors, it is for making charitable donations, expressing sympathy, and extending assistance to people in the Buyanja sub-county of the Rukungiri district.
Baitwababo detailed how he submitted a letter to the group administrator, Allan Asinguza, on May 16, 2023, requesting an audit report and responsibility for the funds gathered from the registered members since the organization's formation in 2017, according to the complaint he filed with a Kampala, Uganda, magistrate.
"The membership fee is Ush30,000 and we contribute when someone loses a loved one, we also run medical camps for those who cannot afford treatment, and we also respond to emergency calls such as dis@sters and arson att@cks," he stated.
According to Baitwababo's affidavit, issues arose when he questioned the admin about the procedure that allowed them to administer the group's business, as well as an audit report and accountability for cash raised since the group's formation in 2017.
"I had concerns about the donations that had been gathered since 2017. I questioned the organization's legality and sought accountability, the man stated.
Baitwababo was consequently kicked off of the WhatsApp group by the administrator in May 2023, which prompted him to hurry to court to seek restitution.
My only two requests were that I will be allowed to rejoin the group, which they did, and that the court provides me a permanent injunction to prevent being kicked out once more, according to Baitwababo.
He was granted justice on Monday, June 19 by the court.
"The applicant is hereby ordered to return to the WhatsApp group "Buyanja My Roots." The magistrate instructed, "A permanent injunction is also imposed prohibiting the respondent, his agents, or his assignees from further impairing the applicant's right of association.
However, it was claimed that as soon as Herbert was let back into the group, everyone else left and a new one was created without him.
He allegedly returned to court to seek redress.
