ECOWAS has condemned the killing of 30 soldiers in Burkina Faso

At least 30 soldiers have been killed in jihadist attacks on Burkina Faso security forces, which have been denounced by ECOWAS.

The association's board of directors sent a message of sympathy to the families of the deceased while urging the government of the nation to launch an inquiry right once to bring those responsible to justice.

The attacks happened on Monday and Tuesday in the country's north and west.

Since 2015, Burkina Faso has experienced Islamist assaults from Mali, a close neighbor.

As a result of the fighting, more than 10,000 people have perished and approximately two million people have been displaced.

Despite the United Nations finishing its peacekeeping operations in Mali, Islamist activity in West Africa is on the rise, according to experts.
