ECOWAS is meeting on the Niger coup
The leaders of the military council in Niger have warned against interfering in their affairs, especially from the military point of view.
Their warning comes as the leaders of the West African countries are planning to hold an emergency meeting in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria to discuss the next step they will take with the aim of putting pressure on the military to return the country to the path of democracy.
It is expected that the presidents of the 15 member countries of the ECOWAS group and the group of countries that use the CFA currency will stop Niger from becoming a member of the groups, and impose trade restrictions and even close the borders of their countries with it.
It is also expected that the country of Chad, which is not a member of the group, will participate in the meeting. The coup in Niger continues to be condemned by the countries inside and outside the African continent with the rejection of any leader other than Mohamed Bazoum.
