At least 44 people lost their lives and many others were injured as a result of a bomb attack on a political meeting of a major Islamic party in northwest Pakistan.

The attack was aimed at the Jamiat Ulema al Islami JUI-F party which is part of the government coalition under the leadership of a prominent religious scholar.

Khyber District Health Minister Riaz Anwar confirmed the death of 44 people while more than 100 others were injured.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, but the IS group has repeatedly attacked the JUI-F Party in the past.
