Google African Student Conference Scholarships for 2023
At Google, we think that in order to create tools that have the potential to transform the world, a variety of skills, backgrounds, and viewpoints are required. They also think that everyone should have the chance to pursue professional connections, peer networking, and a career in technology.
We are pleased to provide Google Conference Scholarships for specific conferences in the technology industry and allied fields in an effort to reduce the obstacles that prohibit underrepresented groups in business and technology from attending top conferences.
The purpose and Advantages of Google Conference Scholarships
These scholarships are created with the express purpose of assisting chosen individuals in attending significant conferences and expanding their professional networks.
Qualification Standards for Google Conference Scholarships
Applicants must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible for a scholarship to attend an international conference:
1. Be a full-time student who is enrolled in an accredited university in Africa and needs financial assistance to attend a conference.
2. Obtain acceptance for a paper at a prestigious computer science conference. We favor supporting conferences in fields of study in which Google has a keen interest. For a list of areas, visit research.google.com.
3. Be the first author—alone or with a partner—of the accepted paper.
4. Individuals who work for Google are not eligible to apply for Google scholarships. No one is eligible to apply for this scholarship if they are: (1) inhabitants of embargoed countries; (2) normally resident in embargoed countries; or (3) otherwise forbidden by relevant export controls and sanctions programs.

Based on application screening, the Scholarships will be given to the most deserving candidates. According to the timelines established for the region, each candidate will be informed of their status.
Eligible applicants will receive our response within four weeks of applying because we assess applications on a rolling basis throughout the year. As the payment completion timeframe can range from 5-8 weeks, we ask that you apply for the grant well in advance of the Conference start date. The money will be transferred to the applicant's university once the travel grant is accepted, and the student may submit claims for reimbursement in accordance with standard university policies.
