I Was Suspended For Political Activities - Chairman of Nassarawa Local Government
The chairman of the Nassarawa Local Government in Kano State, Auwalu Lawan Aranposu, has claimed that the suspension of him was done only for political reasons.
Aranposu claimed that he has not yet received any official notification of his suspension in an exclusive interview with the Nigerian Tracker daily.
He acknowledged that there was a disagreement between him and a few Cabinet of Councillors members that resulted in the decision to suspend him from his duties.
Aranposu claims that the parliament expelled him as a result of his supposed affiliation with the state's Kwankwasiyya political party.
When he objected to the motion to remove the deputy chairman of the local government, he claimed that he was accused of being loyal to Kwankwasiyya.
In 2021, Auwal Aranposu was chosen to serve in the APC-led administration of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The 44 local government officials in Kano state are all members of the APC, and their terms are set to expire in January 2024.
