I will not let food shortage cripple the poor - Bola Tinubu

Bola Tinubu, the president of Nigeria, has vowed to do everything in his power to relieve the poor of their burdens.

NIGERIA'S ABUJA - In his intentions to keep his promise to remove risks to agriculture and food production, President Tinubu made this apparent.

In Nigeria, especially in the North East where terrorists are endangering farmers in some woods, a report from the UN foresees a food shortage.

It is hardly shocking that the President has pledged to address problems like floods.

The president's assistant for news, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, stated that "farmers will receive fertiliser and seeds, and forests will be expanded for cultivation, as well as security measures will be tightened."

The majority of Nigeria's 200 million inhabitants live below the UN's definition of poverty, which is now set at $1.25 (about 750 naira) per day. The removal of gasoline subsidies has made the situation worse. Nevertheless, the achievement of doing away with old money has soothed the public's nerves.
