Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci expressed her happiness that her accomplishment had encouraged more young Nigerians to launch enterprises and set records.
While demonstrating her cooking abilities to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Baci spoke with them about raising one million Naira to help and empower a widow to be independent.
She told NAN that she backed the proposal put forth by The Duke of Somolu Productions, a company that produces theatrical plays, because she cared about widows.
When it comes to helping widows, there is still much work to be done. It's important to help them find work, promote them, give them power, and show them how to expand their enterprises.There is a lot that can be done for the widows, albeit it doesn't always have to be money.
"They require our compassion and affection. We also need to demonstrate to them that they have the capacity to transcend their current situation.
"They still need to go on since the sadness of losing a loved one might result in a depressive state so severe that one forgets what they are capable of.
"The sky will be their limit if they are receiving constant encouragement and there are reminders that they still have so much to look forward to," she said.
Regarding other young Nigerians who are aiming to surpass her record and follow in her footsteps, Baci claimed that the change has brought out the best in some people, particularly the younger generation.
"Since this is a more positive development, I believe it to be a good indicator. This is not a bad thing for me. Since my work was successful and well-done, I genuinely believe it is a good thing that people are approaching me.
"For this reason, many people are striving to push over their barriers and their limits in order to set records in a variety of professions.
"I know that a lot of individuals are attempting to break records, contrary to what is reported on social media, but the truth is that other people are now being encouraged to launch enterprises and break records. It is a strong hint that I performed well.
She highlighted that no new record holder could be revealed until a year after, but she said she had no hard feelings about individuals trying to surpass her records.
Every year, the Guinness Book of Records is revised.
I don't mind that everyone is trying to beat me now that I've broken records; they should aim to do the same.
"I set out to do something, and now that I have, it is time for others to attempt. I don't feel anything negative and I'm not bothered either. It's now time for other people to try, she continued. (NAN)
