Israel: Approval of new legal tender

The bill to change the judiciary will go to a vote among Israeli lawmakers for approval or rejection.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, once more presented the costs of the case he wishes to change to the country's parliament for a vote on whether or not to accept it.

However, prior to the vote, Joe Biden, the president of the United States, asked that the date be changed to a later period, taking into account the divergent opinions held by the nation's political parties. This request sparked a long-standing uprising to contest the proposal.

Similar to this, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock emphasised the value of providing the judges complete authority during a conversation with her Israeli counterpart and demanded that today's vote be put off.

In light of certain of the new constitution's provisions that give the executive branch of government greater authority than the judiciary, opponents of this plan claim that it is anti-democratic.

However, other experts are examining Mr. Netanyahu's strategy and the actions that might shield him from some accusations.
