JUST IN: JAMB refutes a 16-year-old Anambra student's claim that she was the top applicant overall for the 2023 UTME and discloses her actual result.
The 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) high score exhibit of 16-year-old Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma from the state of Anambra has been rejected by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The board declared her a fraud for willfully falsifying her initial score, according to a statement released on Sunday, July 2, 2023.
The board reports that Miss Ejikeme claimed to have received a score of 362 on the test. Her actual score, however, was 249, substantially below what she had allegedly obtained, according to the research.
The Board declared that "Many of the results which many of these candidates are parading are fake" in a statement that was signed by Fabian Benjamin, Head, Public Affairs and Press, JAMB.
"The attention of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been drawn to several publications in both print and online media celebrating certain candidates for being high scorers in the 2023 UTME," the statement with the title "Many Fake JAMB High Scorers Deceiving Good-spirited Nigerians: The Case Of Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma And Dr. Innocent Chukwuma" read.
The Board feels compelled to clear the air and wants to make it clear that many of the results that these candidates are displaying are phony. Many of these candidates actually received much lower scores than they are reporting, and they have manipulated their results using amusing software programs to trick the public.
The Board claims that Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma's story, in which she claimed to have obtained a 362 on the UTME in 2023 and received a N3 million scholarship from Chief (Dr.) Innocent Chukwuma, is the most pitiful of all.
"She was even about to receive recognition from the Anambra State Government when one of its senior officials called JAMB to verify her claim, only for the Board to find out Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma's actual score was 249. In order to deceive the public and falsely gain scholarships and other recognitions, she had falsified her UTME results.
The Board would like to state that individuals like Mmesoma are still active in misleading people who are eager to confer honors on candidates without Board approval.Similar circumstances involved Atung Gerald in Kaduna, who stated to have received a 380. His ethnic community had raised the issue and requested that he be given special recognition, but the Board let them down by proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that Atung never obtained the 2023 UTME application materials, let alone showed up for the test.
"The Board would, therefore, like to urge the public to always cross-check these claims by candidates with the Board before rushing to give them undeserving awards as certain software have been created to fake their versions of their results and put same in the public space for fun and this is what the sponsors of these candidates are using to defraud good-spirited Nigerians like Dr. Innocent, the founder of Innoson Motors, who sincerely desire to celebrate their achievements."
The Board applauded individuals like Dr. Innocent Chukwuma and urged other Nigerians who wanted to invest in the future of sincere children to never give up and to always make sure they received accurate results from the Board, as was done by the Anambra State Ministry of Education.
JAMB predicted that many law-abiding Nigerians would unwittingly celebrate crime as this is just another new con in town.
The real findings, on the other hand, are with the Board and would be forwarded to their top-choice institutions when the time is right, so these applicants only succeed in altering what they are holding.It should be noticed that Miss Mmesoma had used the Board's portal to send a mail asking for her UTME results. She then manually inflate her scores and paste them on the 2022 UTME result sheet.She was unaware that the Board had modified the look of the 2023 UTME result sheet. Nothing can affect her original score of 249, thus that remains the case. Miss Mmesoma would face legal action for this despicable behavior, and her first finding would be overturned. Not only that, but the Board will also look into any candidates who falsely claim to have received greater marks than they actually did.
"Once discovered, such candidates' original results would be immediately withdrawn, and they would be handed over to relevant security agencies for prosecution," the Board continued.
