For incoming freshmen from historically underrepresented groups or first-generation college students who have overcome obstacles to achieve their academic goals, this scholarship is a minimum of $24,000 (minimum $6,000 per year renewable for up to four years). A total high school GPA of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale and an ACT score of at least 25 (1150 SAT) are prerequisites for being asked to apply. An official ACT or SAT score is required for international first-year students to be eligible.

(iv) Redbird Scholarship for Academics

 (v) Transfer Student Scholarship

Transfer students at Illinois State University are eligible for the coveted and very competitive Transfer Student Scholarship. The prizes have a total value of $4,000 and are worth $2,000 per year for two years. Instead of considering financial necessity, the prizes are given based on academic merit. To be eligible to apply, students must have completed 30 credits at the time of enrollment and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 in college.

Graduate Assistantships

For graduate assistantships or graduate teaching assistantships, many graduate students apply. Assistantships are positions that pay your tuition in full and come with a little stipend or compensation (referred to as a "tuition waiver"). In most cases, the total financial benefit comes close to covering all of a student's costs for an academic year.
