MSF has warned that it may suspend its operations in Sudan

The International Medical Aid Organisation (MSF) announced yesterday that a team member had been attacked in Khartoum, warning that it might no longer operate one of the few minor hospitals that are still open in the war-torn capital of Sudan.

On Thursday of this week, while 18 MSF employees were delivering supplies to the Turkish Hospital in Khartoum, some armed individuals beat them and threatened to kill one of them, according to the medical aid organisation.

The Turkish hospital is one of the two healthcare facilities in Khartoum's south that are still operational, according to the National Medical Association.

Both hospitals, he continued, are located in a part of the city that the Rapid Support Forces, who have been battling the regular army since April 15, dominate.

More than 3.3 million people have been displaced as a result of the war that the generals are waging. The heaviest violence took place in Khartoum and in western Darfur.

The MSF party was "attacked by a group of people armed with bad weapons, they were beaten with whips," the group in Geneva claimed after debating the circumstances surrounding their attack on them as they attempted to access the Turkish hospital.
