Nigeria: El-Rufai and Wike are part of Tinubu's cabinet
28 persons have been proposed by Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to serve as his cabinet. Nasir El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna, and Nyesom Wike, a former governor of Rivers, are on the list. The names were in a letter that Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate, read aloud in the House of Assembly on Thursday.
The list of ministers was provided to the Senate by Femi Gbajabiamila, the chief of staff for the presidency.
According to the country's constitution, names of ministers must be presented 60 days after the new president is sworn in in order to be considered for appointment.
Former governors, economists, health professionals, attorneys, and close friends of Mr. Tinubu are among the list of ministers that the Senate President has reviewed.
Along with Mr. El-Rufai and Mr. Wike, other individuals mentioned include Barr. Hannatu Musawa, who was designated as a special adviser, Adebayo Adelabu, a former APC candidate for governor in Oyo State, Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi, economist Olawale Edun, and Presidential Spokesperson Dele Alake.
