One million people are at risk of starvation in Burkina Faso

As a result of the insecurity impacting some areas of the country, the International Rescue Committee has issued a warning that at least one million people in Burkina Faso are at risk of starving in the upcoming months.

2.2 million individuals, or at least one in ten of the population, are currently at risk of being hungry in the nation.

However, in September of this year, there will be 3.3 million IRC groups.

Because of the violence in various areas of the country, food transportation has currently been halted in some of those areas, and several hospitals have also been forced to close.

The group expressed worry about the predicament in the northern town of Djibo, where more than 200,000 people are looking for safety.

Due to a scarcity of food, food markets in the area were closed, and about four out of five hospitals were also closed.

When 11 soldiers were ambushed while escorting a convoy of food trucks to the area last year, they perished.

Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the head of the military government in Burkina Faso, is in charge of the country's affairs. He pledged to retake the parts of the nation held by bandits in October of last year.
