Peace with the bandits will end the security problem - Prince Bakura

According to Senator Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura, the former governor of Zamfara, the best approach to solve the security issue that has plagued Nigeria's north-west is to sit down at the negotiating table with the bandits.

He contends that the security issue in the north-western region may be solved using a similar manner to the reconciliation table the federal government held with the Niger Deltans in southern Nigeria.

He stated that he is urging the new security officials to meet down with the bandits and begin a dialogue about peace with them, just like they did with the bandits who previously terrorized the Naija Delta region.

The majority of them, according to reports, are Nigerians; however, Nigerians should sit with them, grab their interest, and demonstrate how the Naija Delta people were treated and how money was handed to them after reaching a peace agreement. They were given money, they formed enterprises and activities, they should also live with them, and they should offer them food.

If this is not possible, according to the Prince of Bakuran, they should be followed and the proper measures should be implemented.

There was no actual reconciliation, according to Prince Bakura, despite previous attempts by various governments in the nation to achieve it that were unsuccessful.

It is not appropriate to sit down with them, give them a promise, and then disrupt the peace, the senator stated. Because you won't call the man whose poverty and stupidity forced him to flee into the forest, and then you think of making peace with him without keeping the promises you made to him, I have followed every peace that has been made with them in the past.

The former governor of Zamfara spoke with Awwal Ahmad Janyau on this week's Gane Mini Hanya forum about a variety of topics, and he began by expressing his opinion on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's arrest.
