A man suspected of murder has been arrested 40 years after committing the crime

After 40 years of playing hide and seek with the police, authorities in the United States have detained a guy who is suspected of murder.

According to police, Donald Santini, 65, is charged with using 13 fictitious aliases to elude authorities after killing a lady, 33, in Florida in 1984.

While serving as the chairman of the water board for a district in the state of California, he was detained.

He has been returned to Florida to answer for the accusations leveled against him.

He is charged with killing a woman who was 33 at the time. Before the woman's body was discovered tied up in a stream, Mr. Santini, according to the authorities, was the last person seen with her.

Authorities said that after being charged with killing the woman, he left the region.

In 1990, 2005, and 2013, images of him as a wanted man were broadcast on national television.
