Putin canceled the BRICS meeting in South Africa
According to the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided not to attend the BRICS summit, which will take place in Johannesburg next month in August.
This announcement follows Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of South Africa, who claimed that attempting to detain Putin in accordance with the ICC warrant issued against him might amount to an act of war. The Kremlin disassociated itself from these remarks, though.
At the two-day gathering, which will include representatives from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will speak on behalf of the president of that country.
As long as Mr. Putin enters South Africa, the ICC Court has the right to detain him for alleged war crimes committed in Ukraine.
