Due to the absence of consistent rainfall, farmers in Borno have turned to specific prayers in preparation for the impending drought.

Farmers, mainly in the afflicted northern and central regions of the state, have turned to prayer in an effort to obtain divine intervention.

Farmers in the Jere, Konduga, Kaga, and Mafa Local Government Areas, as well as the Maiduguri Metropolitan Area, said the development was troubling and called for prayers.

"You will see clouds that look like they are going to rain, but after a while a powerful wind will sweep the clouds away, and that will be the end.

According to Malam Ibrahim Ali, a farmer on the outskirts of Maiduguri, "If things continue this way, there will be drought."

Numerous farmers who spoke about the upsetting development claimed they had turned to prayer.

The Borno Emirate Council has begun organizing the populace for a special rain prayer called "Salatul Istisqa'a" in the meantime.

Alhaji Abubakar Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, the Shehu of Borno, invited Muslims to gather at Ramat Square in Maiduguri on Monday for the prayer in a statement.
