Master's Scholarship Programme at McGill University in Canada for the 2020–2021 Academic Year
McGill University and the Mastercard Foundation partnered in 2013 to launch the McGill Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme. Through this programme, young African leaders with academic prowess can enrol in top-tier universities around the world. Over a ten-year period, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme at McGill will welcome 91 Scholars from Sub-Saharan Africa, including 24 Master's students. Some Scholars are from French-speaking nations, which is unique to McGill, and they get intense English language instruction before beginning their degree programmes.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme at McGill offers specialised programming that aligns with Scholars' leadership framework and gives Scholars the confidence they need to navigate the multiple changes they encounter at McGill and beyond.

Aim and Benefits of Mastercard Foundation Masters Scholarship
1. Leadership development: Mastercard Foundation Scholars are chosen for their clear commitment to enacting change. With a particular focus on Scholars' unique leadership framework, our programming helps to complement the active and passive leadership development that is provided to all McGill students. All programming is cohort-based, and Scholars help one another grow as leaders.
2. Internships: Up to two internships in the Scholars' home countries, typically from May to August, are funded by the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme. These internships give Scholars the chance to stay in touch with people and learn more about the African professional scene. While doing an internship, Scholars build their professional networks and develop skills relevant to their studies and potential careers.
3. Scholars have been active in all aspects of Africa's social, intellectual, and economic life. The diversity of McGill's Scholars is mirrored by the variety of their internship experiences, which span from the mines of Ghana to the hospitals of Tanzania; working with Rwandese youth and Malawian app developers; living in vibrant metropolises, rural settings, and business towns.
