Senegal opposition leader Sonko will appear before the court again
Today is Monday, the leader of the Senegalese opposition, Ousmane Sonko, will appear before the court after he was arrested on Friday, this comes after he announced that he will start a hunger strike.
He called on all those who are detained in prisons because of politics to support him.
In a message posted on his social media pages, Mr. Sonko said that while the people of the country are facing pressure and harassment, he has decided to resist.
He is facing a slew of new charges, including attempted incitement, extortion, and extortion.
At a press conference in Dakar, the capital of the country, one of his lawyers, Koureychi Bâ, said that Mr. Sonko had the support of some prisoners to start the hunger strike with them.
They also said the new charges against the man they were defending over the weekend overturned a June conviction in a trial that took place behind his eyes.
The sentence that was handed down to him in June caused huge protests in Senegal.
