The court acquitted the Christian religious teacher of child trafficking charges

A divisive Christian priest was cleared of kidnapping five children by a Kenyan court.

Gilbert Deya was accused by the prosecution of presenting the kids as evidence for his assertion that he could use prayer to assist infertile couples conceive.

The prosecutor did not provide enough evidence, the judge ruled.

Mr. Deya established numerous Pentecostal churches during his lengthy residence in the UK. He was deported to Kenya in 2017 after an extended trial.

His wife Maryama Deya received a three-year prison term more than ten years ago for kidnapping a baby from a Nairobi hospital and pretending to give birth to it.
