The price of consumer goods has increased in Nigeria

Nigeria's inflation rate jumped from 22.41 percent in March 2023 to 22.79 percent in June.

The increase was attributed to the shift in food costs, according to a study released by the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics today, Monday.

The data also reveals that food prices increased by 22.25 percent, exceeding the 20.60 percent mark reached in June 2022.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu imposed a state of emergency on the nation's food supply on Thursday, July 13, in reaction to the country's soaring food costs.

Nigerians have been battling with the rising cost of food in recent days, and the federal government has halted assistance.
