The Kenyan president has offered to meet with Odinga

In the midst of recent protests over the expense of living, Kenyan President William Ruto stated that he is willing to meet with opposition leader Raila Odinga.

The protests resulted in several fatalities.

Mr. Odinga is in charge of the demonstration to put pressure on the government to reduce taxes and moderate some price hikes.

"I traveled to Tanzania, my buddy Raila Odinga, to plan and discuss the growth of employment opportunities on our continent. As you are aware, I am available to meet with you whenever you like. I will be returning on Wednesday evening," William Ruto wrote on his Twitter profile.

This came after Mr. Odinga told the media that Mr. Ruto had turned down the Tanzanian president's offer to arbitrate between the ruling party and the opposition.

Mr. Odinga called for a demonstration on Wednesday to remember those slain in the riots and denounced how the police handled the nonbelievers.
