The Libyan government said it was not involved in the attack on Camp Wagner

The government of Libya said it had nothing to do with a drone strike on a Wagner mercenary base in the east of the country.

According to a security source, a drone of unknown origin struck the al-Kharrouba air base on Thursday, 150 kilometres southeast of Benghazi, where the captives were being held. The soldiers of Wagner are camped there.

The United Nations-backed military of the Libyan government, whose opponent in the country's east is leaving, has been connected to the strike by some internet media.

The local government in Tripoli responded to the news with surprise, claiming that it was not a part of the violence on Thursday and that it actually adheres to the cease-fire deal made in October 2020.
