The only woman running for president in Zimbabwe
Elisabeth Valerio's name has been added to the list of contenders for the position of president of Zimbabwe in the upcoming August election after she was granted a stay of proceedings by the appeals court to bar her from taking part in the election.
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission's decision to reject Elisabeth Valerio's candidature papers was successfully contested.
She allegedly neglected to pay the entry fee of 20,000 dollars, according to electoral commission officials.
Mrs. Valerio claimed to have purchased the form, and she provided the agency with confirmation of payment.
Mrs. Valerio said that she provided evidence of a money transfer made through a bank in the case that was submitted to the court.
She said that women in Zimbabwe are not allowed to participate in politics at the beginning of this month.
There are now 12 contenders running for president of the nation in the August 23 election.
