The police arrested 3 university students for killing a car driver

The police have taken custody of three Bingham University students who are accused of killing a bolt truck driver who picked them up to buy marijuana in Abuja.

After they got into an argument about who would pay for their transportation, his murder occurs.

This was reported to journalists on Thursday by Haruna Garba, the Federal City Police Commissioner (FTC).

He claims that the police were informed that Obasi Okeke's body had been found at Ngugu Close in Area 11 of Garki, Abuja, lying dead in his own blood.

He said that one of the suspects asked the deceased to take them to Abuja's Guzape neighbourhood before picking them up and returning them to their starting point.

He stated, "On June 5, 2023, a driver named Obasi Okeke's body was discovered in Ngugu Close Area 11 Garki Abuja lying dead in his blood. In order to begin their investigation into the driver's slaying, the police removed the body.

"The inquiry into the perpetrators of this horrific act resulted in the arrest of three individuals, two of them are Bingham University students named Obasieyene Inemesit Inem, Aaron Anthony, and Alasan Ayomide Olusegun.

"One of them asked the driver to drive them to a cannabis store.

"Their arrival back to Guzape, where he had taken them. They planned to fool him by showing him the proof of money transfer and fake "debit alert" on their phone after realising they couldn't afford to pay for what he had done. However, the driver shook his head and hoped he didn't see the money message.

One of the suspects drew a knife during the argument and stabbed the driver before fleeing the scene.

The three suspects will soon be prosecuted because they have admitted guilt, according to CP.
