The Republic of Benin is trying to redefine the system related to freight with Niger

The heads of the organisation in charge of transportation and cargo from Niger took part in the project's inauguration ceremony in the Republic of Benin as part of efforts by the government to redefine the system relating to cargo from the port of Cotonou to the Republic of Niger.

The commodities of Niger, Nigeria, Togo, and Burkina Faso are unloaded from the Republic of Benin itself at the port of Cotonou.

The port has a total size of 400,000 square metres, and its commercial terminal contains one stretch for freight, four bathrooms measuring 155 metres, two bedrooms measuring 180 metres, and a cargo area measuring 220 metres. The 57 thousand square metre warehouse complex includes a 65 thousand square metre container warehouse as well as a free zone for Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso.

Under the direction of Mrs. Tchima Moustapha, a group from the Republic of Niger visited Kwatanu to observe the changes for themselves.

The CNUT's representative in Benin, Maman Bashir Salissou, spoke about the struggles they have in getting Niger to formally export its commodities.
