The roof of a building has fallen on the Chinese volleyball team

According to the Chinese media, a girls' volleyball team was using a school gymnasium in northeastern China when the roof of the building collapsed, killing eleven persons.

Although this has not yet been officially confirmed, eyewitnesses told the nation's media that many of the deceased were youngsters.

Parents in need of clarification flocked to a local hospital.

In Heilongjiang industrial province's gymnasium, only eight of the 19 occupants lived.

According to China Radio, the school's volleyball coach could be heard shouting out the names of the students as the team of rescuers entered the building in Qiqihar city to save the children's lives.
