The Senate approved Tinubu to borrow $800m
The Senate of Nigeria has granted President Bola Tinubu's request to take an 800 million dollar loan in order to implement a program to aid the nation's underprivileged.
Additionally, the 2022 supplementary budget bill was amended by the Congress.
In a letter he submitted to the House, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the President's request.
According to Tinubu, the National Executive Council, which was presided over by former President Muhammadu Buhari, has consented to take out a second loan from the World Bank for an additional 800 million dollars to conduct the support program.
According to the president, the program's goal is to assist the underprivileged in obtaining essentials for survival.
President Tinubu said on Thursday that his administration will provide 8,000 naira per month for six months to the nation's 12 million underprivileged households.
