Ukraine: The future of the grain transport agreement

There are concerns about the repercussions of not making a decision regarding the extension of the agreement to export food from Ukraine through the Black Sea, even though its term is set to expire.

Moscow has not yet commented on the extension of the deal that was agreed in July of last year, despite attempts made by the United Nations and Turkey at the end of last week to persuade Russia.

Prior to the Kremlin spokesman denying this, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan initially claimed that Russia had given him permission to extend the arrangement.

According to Russia, it was denied the chance to sell some of its goods, notably fertilisers, unlike Ukraine, and the food being sold is insufficient for the African countries specified in the deal.
