4 Boko Haram commanders and 13 others have surrendered to MNJTF
Four Boko Haram commanders, 13 fighters and 45 of their relatives have surrendered to the Joint International Task Force (MNJTF).
The statement issued by the Spokesperson of the MNJTF, Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, said that the decision was made following the way the Joint Task Force continues to carry out anti-terrorism operations.
He said that between the 14th and 15th of August 2023, "four top Boko Haram commanders, 13 top fighters, and 45 of their comrades laid down their weapons and surrendered to the forces of the 3rd division of the MNJTF."
In addition, on August 15, 2023, two commanders, four fighters and 24 of their comrades surrendered.
He said that the terrorists who surrendered handed over their two AK-47 rifles, 99 bullets.
He reiterated that the MNJTF continues to be committed to strengthening the stability of the Lake Chad region.
