Chelsea Sign Goalkeeper From Brighton
Chelsea have agreed to buy Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez for a fee of £25 million.
The Blues have been looking to add a goalkeeper to their team after selling Edouard Mendy to Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia.
Sanchez, 25, will challenge Kepa Arrizabalaga as the number one goalkeeper
Spanish coach Mauricio Pochettino will decide who will keep the goal at Chelsea while goalkeeper coach Ben Roberts worked with Raya during his time at Brighton.
Sanchez has been with the Seagulls since the age of 15, having joined their academy from Levante in 2013.
After loan spells with Forest Green and Rochdale, he made his Brighton debut in November 2020 and became the Seagulls' first-choice goalkeeper.
He was also called up by Spain in 2021 and was part of their squad for the postponed European Cup and the 2022 World Cup, although he only played two matches for Spain.
Sanchez lost his place to Jason Steele in Brighton's 2022-23 Premier League campaign, despite playing in the FA Cup semi-final on penalties against Manchester United at Wembley.
