Concern continues to be expressed over the abandonment of the Baro Station project
The construction of the port by the Baro da Gidauniyar (PTF) began in 1995 and includes many aspects including the creation of a modern transport system and the draining of the Niger River to provide enough water for ships to navigate. on the head.
It is on this basis that the administration of the late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua started the project of reclamation of the river with the aim of creating a modern station that will compete shoulder to shoulder with its counterparts in other parts of the world.
The project faced many problems, especially the political issues during the time of former President Jonathan, until former President Muhammadu Buhari came with the intention of continuing the project where he launched the management department of the station and the storage department.
On the 19th of January 2019, there was a grand opening ceremony for the station, where many people hoped that it would revive the economic affairs of the Northern region and Nigeria as a whole.
